Shabbat

Religious services at Sinai Free Synagogue offer intergenerational participation in a welcoming, friendly environment. The services have a special warmth that comes from the leadership of our Rabbi and the singing of both traditional and contemporary music by our Cantor and congregation. Services are further enriched by organ and/or guitar accompaniment.

Friday Evening Shabbat Services

Friday evening Shabbat services are held weekly. The Oneg following the service offers our congregants and visitors an opportunity to linger and chat over coffee and desserts. Please check the Calendar for more details.

Each Friday evening during the Shabbat service the congregation, led by the clergy, recites a Mi Sheberach - a blessing for those in need of healing. If there is someone dear to you whose name you would like included in this blessing, please call the Synagogue office by 3:00 p.m. Friday. If you cannot get the name to us by then, you will still have an opportunity to call the name aloud at the appropriate time during the service. This is a moving way to express our concern for friends and relatives who are ill.

Saturday Morning Shabbat Services

For those who have trouble making it to Friday night services, or who would simply enjoy a Saturday morning worship experience, Rabbi Barzilai conducts a Saturday morning service that meets every Saturday when there is no Bar or Bat Mitzvah. (The service follows Torah Study.) This service lasts one hour and is very participatory. There are explanations of the prayers and rituals during the service so that everyone can feel comfortable. We need a minyan so please join us on Saturday mornings for this service. Please check the Calendar for more details.
